Eating Disorders

Dietitians at Lagom have additional training and specialisation in helping children, adolescents, and adults navigate the very difficult space of recovery from an eating disorder or disordered eating. Our practitioners are renowned in the field, and our work includes published books, designing the dietetic service for the Day Program and developing innovations that are now used on eating disorder wards Australia wide. We are delighted to now support you in private practice.
With extensive experience and a compassionate approach we support individuals and their families to manage their eating disorder or disordered eating. Our team has extensive training in the different evidence-based approaches available, allowing us to tailor our support for each individual. We can offer individual support using ACT, CBT-E, MANTRA and family support. Our work will include a complete nutrition assessment and liaison with team members. We can provide a meal plan if required.
Our team are committed to supporting recovery from an eating disorder within the context of holistic wellness. We understand the journey of recovery can be confusing, and can impact the food environment at home. We aim to listen to the goal of each individual we work with, and use a supportive approach to work together to get there.
Ultimately, we want to ensure every individual we care for feels supported and understood on their journey to recovery.
What our clients say:
What to expect
When you make contact, Lagom Nutrition will match you to the best Dietitian for your needs, or you may already know your preference and then simply let us know. We feel confident that each of our specialised Dietitians will work hard to understand your needs and support you or your child moving forward around food.
There is no need to bring in food records or complete lengthy paperwork. Our Dietitians will spend time with you in the initial session to get to know your goals for work, and your story around food and your body. You can expect a compassionate approach where your Dietitian will gently explore your concerns with you and make sure the session is tailored to you or your child as an individual.
Initial sessions are 50 minutes in length, to allow a full assessment. Follow Up sessions are set at a frequency determined together with your Dietitian and may continue at the 50 minute duration, or may be shortened to 25 minutes.
Each of our Dietitians are Accredited Practising Dietitians, allowing you to access Medicare rebates as part of a treatment care plan or eating disorder care plan. Private sessions are also available. All our Dietitians are eligible to give you Private Health rebates.
